Singer Jade Thirlwall admitted that she needed therapy for her stage nerves on the latest episode of Little Mix: The Search.
The Little Mix band member, 27, came out with the revelation on Saturday night’s episode as she sat alongside bandmates Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
The girls were discussing their anxieties before performances when Jade got honest about her struggles.
After one audition, Jesy asked: “Do you guys still get nervous?”
Perrie responded: “All the time.”
Jade then said: “I’m terrible. I’ve got better but in the beginning I tried everything.
“I did therapy, counselling to try and calm my nerves.”
Thankfully, the singer revealed that she has found ways to cope with her anxieties.
She added: “I do still get nervous now but I have learnt to deal with it better, but it impacts your vocals so much.”
In tonight’s instalment that Jade was the saving grace of contestant Tamara, who she cast the deciding vote to let her advance to the Band Room.
Perrie had been less convinced, telling Tamara: “When you sing high it is beautiful, but when you’re low you’re kind of singing through your teeth, and it was really affecting how I was hearing the performance.”
However, Leigh-Anne and Jesy fought Tamara’s corner, eventually helping to convince Jade to give the vote to send her through.
Leigh-Anne had said to Tamara: “The thing that drew me in was the way you performed.
“I think you’re such a beautiful performer.”
Before Jade made her final decision, Jesy had opined: “I don’t get why you wouldn’t put her through…I really don’t.”
Luckily for the student from Ireland, Jade sent Tamara through and she proved to make the final five for the show’s girlband.
The Search also sees the Little Mix girls search for male singers to form a boyband that could go all the way to success in the music industry.
Have the girls been choosing wisely?
Little Mix: The Search continues on BBC One tomorrow night at 6.45pm.
