As if all the things she’s said in the past were not bad enough, it looks like the Harry Potter author is in even more hot water over a new book that seems to further demonize transgender people! J.K. Rowling is releasing a crime thriller novel in which the serial killer is a man cross-dressing as a woman and as you can imagine, a lot of people are not very happy about that.
The book is titled Troubled Blood and the villain is cisgender but the fact that he dresses up as a woman to trick his victims pushes a narrative that transgender people could always do the same.
Not to mention that all the things J.K. Rowling has said in the past about trans rights are making the plot of her new book even worse as a message.
‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?

Many users slammed the new book, including Whipping Girl author Julia Serano who tweeted: ‘…I have to say, the irony is rich: Basically J.K. Rowling’s posing as a man (Robert Galbraith) to write a book about a man who poses as a woman to kill people. PROJECTING MUCH?!?!’
Fellow author Paris Lees also posted: ‘Maybe there is a twist in JK Rowling’s book and the killer is really a ‘real’ woman or something, but it’s reasonable to assume the worst when she has spent all year being hostile to trans people and stays silent when Republican senators quote her while blocking votes on LGBTQ rights.’

JK Rowling is making a conscious choice to demonise trans people by making the serial killer a cis man who cross dresses to attack women – she knows the harm this will do to the perception of that community and did it anyway. It is absolutely despicable

Other users seemed to think the same, someone stressing that Rowling’s claims about the dangers of transgender people are ‘so far-fetched‘ that she needed to write a fictional story to support her arguments.
Many have been expressing their disappointment over having such beliefs associated with their favorite story (Harry Potter) through the creator of the magical world as her words get more and more harmful.
