Greg James has shared a piece of his past with his radio breakfast listeners as he revealed he once auditioned for Hollyoaks.
The BBC Radio 1 presenter, 34, got candid as he recalled the disastrous tryout for the hit E4 series as he detailed exactly what went down in that audition room.
Greg received a call from a listener who detailed an audition of hers that went wrong.
The listener revealed she once tried out to be Lily James’ double on Cinderella, but then didn’t get the job after casting directors had a problem with her toes.
Her ill-fated telly dream spurred Greg to share a bit of his own acting failures, revealing that he’s actually been yelled “next” at before even trying out for the role.
Speaking live on air on Wednesday morning, Greg revealed: “I don’t think I’ve ever said this on the radio before actually. Basically I auditioned for Hollyoaks once.”
The listener then asked: “How did it go?”
Greg continued: “Well I didn’t end up starring in Hollyoaks so I guess that’s how it went!
“And I was literally in the queue for two hours and they stood me in front of their desk and basically asked ‘So, what’s going on?’ and I said who I was, and they went ‘Okay cool, next!’.”
He added: “It was literally a ‘next’…You know what? I grew up and I realised that it’s okay not to have the Hollyoaks look.
“I’m not in Hollyoaks and Tony Hutchinson is not hosting the radio breakfast show. Up yours Hollyoaks, didn’t need you anyway.”
