GMB’s Ranvir Singh applauded for ‘perfect’ response to racist Twitter troll
The Good Morning Britain host, 43, was praised for calling out a troll who sent her vile abuse on Twitter as she presented the daytime show
Good Morning Britain host Ranvir Singh has been applauded for swiftly putting down a troll who tried to stir up trouble on Twitter.
As Ranvir fronted Monday’s instalment of the ITV daytime show alongside Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, she was sent a nasty message from a user named ‘Mark’ commenting on her appearance.
Sharing the tweet with her own followers to highlight the abuse, Ranvir then responded: “Wow. On every level, a bizarre insight into how someone’s mind works at 6am on a Monday morning…
“Have a good week Mark.”
After sharing the post with her 73,000 followers, Ranvir was inundated with messages of support.
“You are beautiful inside and out Ranvir, whereas this sorry individual is just a sad bitter vile racist,” fumed one.
“I’m sorry you have to tolerate stuff like that, Ranvir. You’re an amazing journalist, and a great person,” said another.
“How vile! He’s obviously got nothing else in his life which is why he is insulting you first thing on a Monday morning. Don’t let him get to you,” advised another.
Journalist Ranvir, who has been with GMB since it launched in 2014, is to add another string to her bow this year by competing on Strictly Come Dancing.
With the show’s launch date just weeks away, Ranvir confessed she hasn’t started training yet and doesn’t know who her professional partner is.
Strictly normally airs in September with partnerships revealed and training sessions beginning in the same month.
But due to the coronavirus pandemic, the series was pushed back with announcements only recently made about the 2020 line-up.
Speaking on GMB on Wednesday, Ranvir was asked if she’d been working on her moves with her new dance partner.
“No, it’s all happening a bit later isn’t it,” she declared.
She went on: “Well we can’t, we have not met our partners yet, we don’t know who it is.”
