Rick Moranis was punched in the head in an unprovoked attack, with police appealing for more information.
The Ghostbusters actor, 67, was out walking near Central Park, close by to where he lives in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City, on Thursday when the stranger attacked.
In a shocking CCTV clip, the unknown man can be seeing punching the film star, knocking him to the ground.
Police have called the attack, which left Moranis injured, “random” and “unprovoked”.
Moranis was then rushed to hospital for an evaluation as he was suffering pain in his head, back and hip, according to the NYPD.
In the footage, Moranis is walking down the street when the man fires a punch at his head.
He is then seen lying on the ground as the man walks away.
The suspect is wearing an ‘I love NY’ hoodie, black jeans and a face mask in the video.
Police have now said they are still searching for the suspect, who fled the scene.
The NYPD posted the video on Twitter, writing: “WANTED for ASSAULT.
“On 10/1, at 7:24 AM, a 67-year-old male victim was walking southbound on Central Park West in the vicinity of West 70th Street, when an unidentified male struck him in the head with a closed fist, knocking him to the ground.
“Have info? Call/DM @NYPDTips.”
