As the fun-loving Joey Tribiani and Chandler Bing, actors Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry were thought to be inseparable both on and off the set of Friends.
On-screen they shared clothes, girlfriends, chicks and ducks, while off-screen Matt and Matthew famously formed an impenetrable bond with their co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer.
Matt LeBlanc, 53, said they were bonded as tight as family, telling People magazine: “Courteney and Lisa are like my big sisters, but Jen’s like my little sister. Matthew’s like my little brother, and David’s like my big brother. That’s how it all broke down. And it’s literally just like chronological.”
And in 2016 – 12 years after the show wrapped – Matt revealed he was still on close terms with Matthew, 50.
“I saw him yesterday. I love that guy! I can not see him for five years and then get in a room together and still have that shorthand with each other,” he gushed.
“It’s amazing, really. Ten years in a building with no windows and the doors locked, we got to know each other pretty well.”
It was a different story though according to Matt’s estranged father Paul LeBlanc, who sensationally claimed his son thought Matthew was an ‘a**hole’.
“He wanted to pound on [Perry] a couple of times,” he bizarrely claimed to Radar Online in an interview after Matt disowned him over another chat he sold to a US magazine.
Paul went on to claim Matt found David Schwimmer ‘kind of dry, a bit too serious’, but that he ‘always liked Lisa [Kudrow]’.
Matt’s father walked out when he was just a kid, but they reconciled in later life, with Matt reportedly buying him a six-bedroom house in Colorado and a classic Porsche car.
But according to The Sun, Matt cut him off, shut him out of the house and made him sell the car in retaliation for the breach of trust.
Matt said: “He was a ladies’ man. Now he’s old. I don’t talk to him. You can learn valuable lessons from unpleasant people too.”
While there is no evidence that Matt and Matthew’s relationship was anything but friendly, since filming wrapped, Matt, Matthew and David reportedly haven’t stayed as close as Jen, Courteney and Lisa, who are regularly pictured together.
“They didn’t have the tight bond on the show or after,” a source told E! News.
“They’ve gone in separate directions but they all have love for each other and for that time in their life. It’s just a different kind of friendship with the guys. They are doing their own thing in different parts of the world.”
Indeed, when Jen married ex-husband Justin Theroux in 2015, neither Matt or Matthew scored an invite.
“I think they’re a great couple. I think she’s happy. And that’s all I care about is that Jen’s happy,” said Matt, who missed her first wedding to Brad Pitt because he was shooting a film.
“If she wanted me there, I would have been there.”
Matthew added: “I wasn’t invited. So what can you do?
