Publisher Nintendo and developer Imagineer has announced the Nintendo Switch exclusive title Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm and Exercise. The game is a sequel to the popular Fitness Boxing that was also released on the Nintendo Switch and doesn’t require any additional accessories. The game surged in popularity this year during the COVID-19 situation and Ring Fit Adventure became increasingly difficult to find.
Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm and Exercise is similar to the previous installment of the game. Players use the Joy-Cons in each hand, or if playing with a friend, hold one Joy-Con each. Players can choose the music and difficulty they want to exercise at plus the assistance of one of nine trainers. The trainers all have unique styles and personalities. After earning achievements, players can earn tickets to redeem for new outfits for their trainer.
Three new trainers were added to the game: Hiro, Janice, and Hiro. In Japan, Janice is voiced by Rie Kugimiya, who is a popular voice actress and singer who’s performances include Alphonse Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist. Hiro is voiced by Akira Ishida, who most recently performed in Jump Force and Arknights. Karen is voiced by Akari Kito, who has had recent roles in Fate/Grand Order and Granblue Fantasy.
Owners of the original game can transfer their profile over to the sequel, including their progress. The game provides a guided workout where players can track their activity to upbeat music.
The game may seem intimidating to new players, but there are multiple challenge levels. Players can choose from light to heavy modes. From there, the trainer will guide players through a workout, or one can make a custom workout from scratch in Free Training Mode.
Players can learn more about the exercises by viewing detailed examples and then practice them. Instructors will also provide helpful feedback to ensure players aren’t wasting their time on an ineffective workout. Workouts can be completed daily, either alone or with a friend.
Another additional feature is an alarm. When the alarm is activated, players will receive a notification that it’s time to work out, even when the system is in Sleep Mode. If players want to avoid certain actions or moves, these can also be toggled on and off in “Daily Workout Settings.”
Fitness Boxing 2 will be available as a digital download of around 3.9 GB. The game will be offered in various languages, including English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, and Chinese.
Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm and Exercise launches on the Nintendo Switch on December 4.
