Reality star and fitness guru Ferne McCann has shared a refreshing dose of honesty about her time in lockdown – and the challenges it presented her as a parent.
Mum-of-one Ferne, who turns 30 today, admitted that the sudden change to her and daughter Sunday’s routine had been “testing.”
“Being a single mum, I used to get Sunday to bed and then all my friends would come round for dinner, I’d be up and about,” she told Mirror Online.
“A totally different pace of life!”
And while she recently had her mum Gilly round at hers to help out around the house, Ferne told that the “terrible twos” had set in for little Sunday.
“I won’t lie, I definitely struggled at times,” Ferne added, “but I made the wise decision of moving my mum in at the start of lockdown.”
She went on: “It was great…but of course, Sunday’s going through the terrible twos!
“The day that Boris said schools and nurseries were back open…I feel like with children, Sunday’s two and a half, so she’s not of an age where I can explain to her what’s going on, with these life adjustments.
“I was all of a sudden a stay-at-home mum, and I’ve got a whole newfound respect for stay-at-home parents.
“It’s tough…I don’t think it’s bad to say that being indoors with your child or children 24/7 is tough.”
Ferne went on to say that at such a young age, Sunday flourishes in educational environments alongside other kids.
“At the age that Sunday is, she really thrives off nursery and being around other children,” Ferne said, “it’s really important.
“But yeah, she was going through the terrible twos in lockdown which was fun…testing!
“But now I’ve got that routine back where she’s back at nursery, the tantrums are diminishing!”
Ferne has also been hard at work during lockdown on a new project that allows her to channel her business energies into her passion for fitness.
She regularly leaves fans stunned with jaw-dropping and inspirational Instagram fitness posts, and has now launched an online platform to help women in their 30s manage their fitness and feel confident and comfortable.
