Ferne McCann has been taking stock of her life ahead of her 30th birthday on Thursday and admits that she has made some “terrible mistakes” in the past decade.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star has looked back at the moments she now regrets even if it meant that her life would have been a lot different now.

She has admitted that a passion for clean living and fitness training saved her as she felt the pressures of being a reality star and some of the personal choices she made during her twenties.

The 29-year-old told The Sun that she wished she hadn’t met her ex boyfriend, who was given a long prison stretch, despite him being the father of her daughter Sunday.

Ferne met the scaffolder on social media in 2016 and within seven months of being together, she fell pregnant with her first child.

It all turned sour though when three months after falling pregnant, her now ex boyfriend was arrested and charged after throwing acid on to the dance floor of a crowded East London nightclub.

Just two weeks after Sunday was born on November 2, 2017, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Ferne said the incident and subsequent trial “robbed” her of “everything an ideal pregnancy would be.”

She went on to say that the arrest of her ex and seen her grow “new armour” as she bolstered her inner strength to get her through the trauma of those months.

It was during this time that Ferne turned to a healthy lifestyle to help her survive what has been described as the ‘toughest year of her life’.

Ferne admits that she “wouldn’t have got through,” and that “keeping healthy” was the only choice she could make for and her baby.

She went on to say that her twenties was full of “silly decisions” which she “beat myself up about” but she thinks that is the time to make them as long as you “learn from them.”

Ferne said that she was having a lot of one-sided relationships but has now ditched those who she felt were taking but not giving.

She continued: “I was giving a lot of time and effort to people that were not giving it back to me and I’ve stopped doing that now.

“Now I know myself, I know what I want and, more importantly, I know what I don’t want.”
