Paul O’Grady discusses his countryside lifestyle in 2017

Paul O’Grady made a creepy and haunting discovery when doing a spot of gardening over the weekend – leading to concerned fans joking he should put his house up for sale.

The presenter, 65, took to Instagram on Sunday to share a snap of his the “creepy” finding in his grounds – a small bottle of green liquid containing a chunk of plaited hair!

” Digging around the back of the garden this was dug up,” Paul began when captioning the odd discovery.

” It’s a small bottle containing a lock of hair that has been twisted into a plait. The hair looks red but whatever liquid is in the bottle might have discoloured it over the years.”

The Birkenhead-born comedian went to reveal his plans for the unusual item as he asked his fans what they thought the mystery bottle was.

“I haven’t opened it and have no intention of doing so, in fact I’m going to bury it again as it’s not only odd but slightly creepy. Any ideas what it is?” Paul pondered to his 688,000 followers on Instagram.

“Holy s**t! Yes get that BACK in the ground quick snap!! Yikes!!” Andi Oliver wrote to the star, adding: “That’s def some old magic power s**t … back in the ground!!”

“Put ya house up for sale,” one fan dramatically advised Paul, with another adding: “It’s a witches bottle…. Re-bury it and move house.”

Many seemed convinced the bottle had Wicca connotations and had been used as part of a spell or ritual.

“It’s a witch bottle, buried to protect the house occupants and serve as a protective charm. It’s possibly filled with urine and a little alcohol. Basically it’s a bottled spell,” one of Paul’s followers suggested underneath the star’s snap.

Another had a similar way of thinking, penning: “I think there are some Wicca traditions that removed hair from the deceased as they believed it still contained their spirit. Also hair plaits sometimes used in buildings for “protection” talisman. I would bury it again x.”

“Thanks for all your comments about this, whatever it is I’ve buried it in the woods. It’s a super moon tonight and my birthday tomorrow so I’m not taking any chances,” the cautious star commented on Sunday.

Paul went on to enjoy the super moon the night before his birthday- sharing a snap of himself looking up at the night sky as the moon beamed brightly.
