Leandra Ashton has shared a harrowing clip of care home staff shutting the blinds in her face during her visit to see her elderly grandmother.
The former Coronation Street star, 41, shared the shocking video on social media as her visit to see her 97-year-old dementia-stricken gran quickly took a left turn.
The worrying clip showed Leandra’s mum Ylenia Angeli telling the care home nurse that gran Tina Thornborough didn’t look well.
Ylenia told a carer she feared for her mother’s health, before adding that her “lips are blue and her breathing is too fast”.
However Ylenia was quickly dismissed by the nurse, who told her to “ring up on Monday” because she “isn’t a manager”.
Ylenia was still concerned for her mother’s health, and continued to let the nurse know she was not looking well.
As she continued to express her worries, the carer interrupted her and took away from her mother.
Soon after, she shut the blinds as her daughter begged repeatedly “hang on a minute don’t take her away, don’t take her away”.
Mirror Online has contacted Northgate House care home for comment.
It comes as Ylenia was arrested after trying to take her mum out of the care home.
Retired nurse Ylenia hadn’t seen her mother for nine months because of the pandemic and wanted to take her home.
It was later confirmed that the arrest by Humberside Police had been withdrawn and that Ylenia had been able to return home.
Leandra appeared on Good Morning Britain last month, where she explained to hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid that their worry was that her gran was in isolation.
Revealing that they hadn’t been able to communicate with her at all, Leandra said: “Our worry now is that she’s in isolation because, of course, if we were able to take her home that wouldn’t have been necessary, she would have been with us.
“So we’re really worried she’s going to deteriorate further because she probably won’t be taken out of bed and for someone of her age with her dementia, we’re just really concerned about what’s going to happen to her.
“I think what’s really, really important to emphasise is that we are not alone in this situation – there are thousands and thousands and thousands of families in our position.”
