Vinnie Jones has emotionally shared the last ever note his wife left him before she died of cancer.
The ex-footballer last night appeared on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories to speak of his love for Tanya Jones, who died in 2019 after a six-year battle with the disease.
And after the wave of support that came his way following the emotional show, Vinnie decided to open up further to show fans part of Tanya’s legacy.
Tanya had used what little strength she had left to write him a love note thanking him for their marriage.
The card, which featured ‘Always believe something wonderful is about to happen’ across the front, had a sweet message inside.
“To my love Vin, something wonderful happens to me every day… Being with you!” Tanya had told him.
“You are my morning sunshine the moment I wake. With all my love.”
Next to the snap, Vinnie wrote: “Lets start the journey with this last card Tansy sent me xxx.
“I would just like to thank everybody for their really kind messages and support towards myself and especially Tansy.
“It is overwhelming to feel so much love from this great country of people.
“With your backing I will stay strong and help others on this journey of life good and sad. Thank you everyone! Vinnie,” he added.
Ahead of last night’s episode, Piers had warned Good Morning Britain viewers to have their tissues at the ready.
He called the interview “gut-wrenchingly painful”, explaining: “Within three minutes, I showed Vinnie a clip of the last Life Stories, to tee up why we were doing it again, and there was Tanya in the audience.
“And he immediately crumbled, he hadn’t seen the video footage of her, he said, for quite a while, and it hit him.
“It was so raw and moving and uplifting in a way, it was the most extraordinary love story, beauty and the beast in many ways.
“They had first met when they were 12 years old and they got to together in their late teens.”
Piers added: “He said she saved him.”
Fans have flooded Vinnie with support after his raw grief, with Jamie Redknapp sending him a red love heart on his Instagram post.
Strictly Come Dancing champ Kelvin Fletcher also left a heart on his post, while another follower told him: “I watched the interview with Piers Morgan, I was in tears all the way through. May God bless you with strength and patience.”
