Emma Roberts blocked mum on Instagram after she let slip pregnancy bombshell
Emma Roberts had been hiding her blossoming baby bump for months before her mum let slip that the actress was expecting
Pregnant Emma Roberts has revealed she furiously blocked her mum on Instagram after she let slip about her expecting her first child without her consent.
The Scream Queens and America Horror Story actress is expecting her first child with boyfriend Garrett Hedlund.
The American actress, 29, didn’t confirm the news of her pregnancy until August, after rumours began circulating in June.
The Wild Child star announced her happy news with a picture of her and Garret and her bump, telling fans she was expecting a little boy.
But before Emma could reveal her own news, her mum Kelly Cunningham had already confirmed it on Instagram by responding to fans.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Emma said she’d intended to keep her pregnancy “low-key,” but had her plans spoiled by her mum, who just couldn’t help but open her mouth.
Emma’s mum thwarted her scheme by thanking Emma’s fans for their congratulatory messages on Instagram.
“I was keeping my pregnancy pretty low key, but unfortunately my mother has Instagram – which mothers and Instagram, it’s a bad combination… she definitely spilled the beans.”
Emma joked that buying her mother an iPhone may have been the “worst thing [she] ever did”.
“It led to [her] interacting with my fans and just thanking them for all their pregnancy wishes.
“It was a disaster and I found it all out on a plane, so I couldn’t get to her,” she said, before joking: “I couldn’t call her or attack her.”
Her mum thought Emma had already announced her baby news herself after seeing a news report, not realising the announcement hadn’t come from Emma herself.
“We kind of laughed, we kind of got into a fight, I blocked her at one point,” Emma laughed, as she added: “It’s a good story to tell the baby.”
Parents-to-be Emma and Garrett are believed to have started dating in early 2019, and were first rumoured to have become involved in spring when they were spotted kissing on a dinner date in Los Angeles.
The pair were later pictured holding hands during an outing in New York in March 2019.
It was later revealed that Emma had called off her engagement to her American Horror Story co-star Evan Peters,
They had been together on and off for seven years.
Back in September, Emma shared her exciting news by posting a picture of herself posing with her baby bump to Instagram.
The star had cleverly hidden her bump for months before making the announcement.
She revealed the couple were expecting a son, as she wrote: “Me…and my two favourite guys.”
Emma’s picture showed her alone on the sofa, while in two others she was seen cuddling up to Garrett.
