Ellen DeGeneres ‘tells staff she’s an introvert not mean’ amid ‘toxic’ rumours
Ellen DeGeneres reportedly had a conference call with over 200 employees to apologise for offending anyone as she admitted her introverted behaviour can come across as rude
Ellen DeGeneres reportedly spoke to her staff in a conference call yesterday to defend herself against claims that she is mean.
The TV host, 62, is alleged to have told over 200 employees she is introverted which can mean she doesn’t come across well.
It’s claimed she told them she sometimes keeps to herself in her own space which she said could be misconstrued as her not being nice.
She denied the rumours that she had banned those on set from making eye contact with her as she apologised for offending anyone and for the negative attention her show has been getting.
According to Deadline, Ellen told staff: “I’m a multi-layered person, and I try to be the best person I can be and try to learn from my mistakes.”
Ellen is said to have called the eye contact rumour “insane”.
Page Six quotes her as saying: “I dont know where it started. Please talk to me. Look me in the eye.
“It’s crazy, just not true, I don’t know how it started. [It’s] not who I am.”
Ellen reportedly made the conference call to announce she had taken action against those thought to be at the centre of the sexual misconduct and workplace bullying accusations.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show has seen three of its producers fired, with executive producers Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman all being given the boot from the daytime talk show.
Variety has reported that they were the ones that former employees accused of fostering the ‘toxic’ workplace atmosphere on the show.
Ellen previously addressed the allegations, which were being investigated at the time by Warner Bros, on July 31.
In a statement to employees, she apologised and said that she takes “full responsibility” for what happened on the show.
She has claimed that as the show became more popular and grown in stature, she had “not been able to stay on top of everything” and instead “relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done.”
