The only copy of Ed Sheeran’s first demo album that he does not own himself is being auctioned – and set to fetch £10,000.
He recorded Spinning Man in 2004 when he was 13. It features 14 songs.
They are about what he once called his “soul-shattering” first break-up. He said he thinks there are 20 copies of the CD, and he owns 19.
Ed, 29, from Suffolk, added he did not want anyone else to get hold of a copy.
But one of the demos has been unearthed.
As a lad, Ed was staying with relatives while busking, and he handed a CD to one of their friends.
The man’s brother Kevin, who does not want to reveal his surname, is selling it.
He said: “My brother put it in a drawer and forgot about it.
“He didn’t realise Ed would go on to be one of the world’s biggest pop stars.”
Kevin, 48, said the songs are “really good”.
He added: “All the other CDs, as far as I know, have a sticker saying ‘ Ed Sheeran Spinning Man’.
“But for this one he’d run out of stickers so he wrote his name on.
“It might be the only signed copy.”
