Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are to appear alongside their This Morning replacement Alison Hammond in the show’s Christmas pantomime.
The married couple will play Mr and Mrs Claus alongside Alison as the fairy godmother in the “panto mash-up” featuring moments from Aladdin, Dick Whittington and Snow White.
Holly Willoughby will be Cinderella, while co-star Phillip Schofield will take on a classic panto role – her best pal Buttons.
Viewers will see the pair embark on an epic journey to attend the This Morning Ball, with the production team including panto professionals who have lost work due to Covid.
Other members of the This Morning team taking part include Lisa Snowdon, who regularly fronts the fashion segment, playing Tinkerbell.
Also starring are Joanna Lumley as the Wicked Stepmother, Christopher Biggins as Dick Whittington’s Dame Sarah the Cook, and Sheridan Smith as Peter Pan.
In Aladdin, Dr Ranj Singh is the Genie of the Lamp and Widow Twankey is played by Gyles Brandreth.
Regular This Morning View contributor Matthew Wright will step in as Captain Hook for Peter Pan too.
Speaking about taking part, Sheridan, who will play Peter Pan, explained: “The whole theatre and creative industries have been devastated by the virus and lockdown.
“Hopefully doing this Panto with This Morning will provide some of these people much needed work and give everyone some hope and laughter for better times to come.”
The news comes just weeks after the Mirror revealed Eamonn and Ruth had lost their regular Friday slot on the show.
The two will be replaced by Alison and her new co-host Dermot O’Leary, and will now only host the show during school holidays.
The pair – who are both 60 – were said to be devastated when they learnt they were being replaced by Alison Hammond, 45, and Dermot O’Leary, 47.
And as Eamonn and Ruth try to understand the reason behind ITV bosses’ decision to give their usual Friday slot to another duo, sources have claimed the married couple believe the decision was to do with their age.
An insider told OK! mag: “The viewers love them, but Eamonn has said to Ruth he wonders if it’s because they’re both 60 and too old.”
