Donald Trump suffered an embarrassing blunder at his presidential rally in Michigan this week.

The US president, 74, invited rapper Lil Pump to come up on stage – but introduced him to the audience as Little Pimp.

The rapper was encouraged to speak to Trump supporters in Florida on the final push ahead of the polls closing on November 3.

After speaking about singer Ted Nugent, Trump went on to say: “Speaking of sound, music and other things, one of the big superstars of the world, Little Pimp, there he is!

“I love your sound, I love your music,” he told the crowd.

“How’s it going? You wanna come up and say something? Come on, Lil Pump, come on up here. Does everyone know who he is? Do you know how big he is?”

The majority of the audience seemingly had no idea who the rapper was.

After coming up on stage, the musician – whose real name is Gazzy Garcia – said: “I’ve come here to say, Mr President, I appreciate everything you’ve done for our country.

“You brought the troops home, and you’re doing the right thing. Maga 20 20 20! Don’t forget that! Don’t forget that, and do not vote for Sleepy Joe at all!”

Trump forgetting the rapper’s name quickly echoed the time he accused Joe Biden of having dementia.

Last month, Trump criticised Democratic nominee Joe Biden for not being able to remember Mitt Romney’s name when referencing the Republican senator.

Naturally, trump flocked to Twitter to hit out at his presidential rival, tweeting: “Mitt can’t be thrilled about this! Joe also said yesterday he’s running for the U.S. Senate (again) and totally forgot where he was (wrong State!).

“Joe has never been a nice or kind guy, so it’s easier to find this obvious & rapidly getting worse ‘dementia’ unacceptable for USA!”

In the final hours before today’s US Election, both candidates are rounding off a blitz of rallies across the all-important swing states.

Trump’s campaign trail has brought him to a finish in Grand Rapids, Michigan – a key state if he is to pull off a victory against Biden.

After rubbing shoulders with Lady Gaga in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Democrat front runner, meanwhile, appears to have taken a narrow lead in Florida – official home state of Trump since last year and one he must win at all costs.

The pandemic has led to hundreds of challenges over how people can cast their ballots in the showdown between Trump and Biden, and it promises to get dicey tonight.

Each of the candidates needs to win enough votes from the electoral college to be named winner, while the loser then concedes the race.

The US operates under a presidential system, rather than the parliamentary method which is used here in the UK.

This means than each of the tens of millions of voters casts their ballot for a person rather than a political party.
