Dominic West has hit out at rumours his marriage is on the rocks after he was pictured kissing actress Lily James.
The actor said his marriage to wife Catherine FitzGerald is “strong” in a defiant note as they were pictured together giving a statement to the press outside their Wiltshire home.
As they walked side by side, she was seen carrying a hand-written note which read: “Our marriage is strong and we’re very much still together. Thank you.”
It was signed by both of them, as seen in images from Daily Mail.
The couple, who have been married since 2010 and have four children together, put on a defiant display as they stood outside their home, held hands and kissed.
Dominic, 50, said: “I just want to say our marriage is strong and we are still very much still together.”
He then handed out the note before turning to kiss Catherine and walking off to their home together.
He refused to answer any questions about what had happened in Italy.
They left their home moments later, driving off together to an unknown destination.
Dominic, who starred in Showtime drama The Affair, was seen on what appeared to be a romantic break with Mamma Mia star Lily, 31,who recently split “for good” from Doctor Who star Matt Smith after an on/off relationship.
Dominic and Lily, who also starred in Downton Abbey, were pictured having an intimate lunch together in Rome.
Dominic was caught on camera stroking Lily’s hair and nuzzling and kissing her neck.
They were also seen messing around on a scooter as he wrapped his arms around Lily and they hopped on the vehicle together.
Lily and Matt’s romance came to an end last week after around five years of dating on and off.
It was said that they’d tried to give it one more go in lockdown but that things hadn’t worked out.
A source told The Sun : “Lily and Matt were a picture-perfect couple for years but there are just some differences they haven’t been able to get past.
“They have gone back and forth this year trying to sort things out between them because they both have so much love for each other.
“But unfortunately it just isn’t working and they have mutually decided to just close this chapter of their lives.”
Dominic and landscape designer Catherine started dating at university and tied the knot in Ireland in 2010. They went on to have four children – Dora, 13, Senan, 12, Francis, 11, and Christabel, seven.
