Diversity’s Perri hits back at trolls over BGT dance telling them to ‘get in the bin’

Diversity star Perri Kiely has hit back at trolls complaining about the group’s BLM performance on Britain’s Got Talent – telling them to “bin yourself”.
The dancer was part of the group who took to the stage during Saturday’s semi-finals dedicating their routine to the Black Lives Matter movement.
The routine divided viewers and broadcasting watchdog Ofcom recorded almost 3,000 complaints by last night.
Perri’s bandmate Ashley Banjo released a poignant statement on Twitter yesterday responding to the complaints, writing: “For the people sending this: 1. You do not represent or speak for the Great British public.
“2. Silence was never and will never be an option. 3. Change is inevitable… Get used to it.”
Ashley was targeted by trolls including one who slammed the BLM movement and called the group’s performance “appalling”.
Perri hit back, defending his friend and the band by responding to the user, writing “Bin yourself,” alongside an emoji of a trash can.
He went on to add: “I can’t believe the replies to this… apparently these people are adults!? Go educate yourselves.”
The dancer went on to post his on tweet, writing: “The love I have for my family is endless and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of my team we’re on the path to real change #Diversity.”
Perri previously responded to the backlash on Twitter yesterday, writing: “It’s exactly as I expect yet I struggle to understand what goes on inside so many people’s heads…the world needs to wake up.
“This is genuinely heartbreaking #BLM#Diversity#BGT.”
Diversity’s BGT performance was set to ‘remix’ of Tomfoolery’s poem The Great Realisation and featured a figure dressed as a policeman who knelt on Ashley Banjo while the performers recorded on their phones.
There were also backing dancers dressed in riot gear and the group took the knee during the performance as a moving tribute to the BLM movement.
A representative for Britain’s Got Talent has since defended the performance in a statement issued to the Mirror.
