Denise Welch has had ‘a tough couple of weeks’ as feud with Piers Morgan rages
Loose Women star Denise Welch has spoken out on the state of her mental health as her clashes with Good Morning Britain star Piers Morgan continue over Covid-19
Actress Denise Welch has said she has had “a tough couple of weeks” as she continues to clash with Piers Morgan.
The Loose Women star, 62, shared an update on her mental health situation on social media amid her consistent calls for the media to change its reporting on the coronavirus crisis.
This morning, Denise posted an image of herself in a pink-patterned bathing suit and sunglasses, posing against a wall near a window at home.
Denise wrote alongside the image on Twitter : “Living with crippling, debilitating clinical depression for 30 yrs you learn to appreciate feeling ‘normal’.
“It’s been a tough couple of weeks but I’ve remained well throughout.
“It gives me strength to know that when my next episode comes, it will always go & I’ll survive.”
The message comes after yesterday Denise continued her calls to stop scaremongering in the media surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic for the sake of the general public’s mental health.
Last night, Denise tweeted: “Can I point out please. I have absolutely no idea what will happen re Covid. How would I? I would love to think it’s done it’s worst. But all I’m doing is balancing the fear reporting causing massive anxiety & deoresion.”
She added: “If the current rise in cases do indeed lead to a rise in hospitalisation and deaths then at least we know that we are not in April.
“We have zero deaths, empty Covid wards and effective treatments for some. That’s all. Don’t be sucked in by the fear. It’s cruel x.”
However, following her comments, Denise came in for criticism from the outspoken Good Morning Britain anchor Piers Morgan.
He tweeted last night: “Memo to all Covidiot deniers & sceptics, and those who only want to hear ‘positive news’ about the pandemic even when the news is concerning: stop following me & follow Professor Denise Welch instead.
“Your mind-numbingly complacent ignorance is damaging my mental health.”
Denise then went on to share an image of her screen that showed Piers’ tweet.
She captioned the image: “To those who would like to live in abject fear of a virus that currently has a huge survival rate, please follow prophet of doom Piers Morgan.
“The saviour of all those living with anxiety & mental health issues.”
It doesn’t seem they are going to agree anytime soon!
