Legendary magician David Blaine will float from New Jersey to New York by only holding balloons.
The world-famous endurance artist, 47, will attempt his first death-defying stunt in 10 years and broadcast it live on YouTube.
The event is entitled Ascension and will see Blaine float using a cluster of balloons filled with Helium gas.
Tweeting about the planned stunt, Blaine wrote: “This stunt has been 10 years in the making.
“Let’s turn worry into wonder and take magic to new heights.”
Ascension will air live on Blaine’s YouTube channel on August 31.
YouTube announced: “Watch in disbelief as David Blaine magically ascends above Earth, in his biggest live performance yet.”
Variety reports that Blaine’s flight will begin in New Jersey and float down the Hudson River to New York City, where David Blaine himself is from.
The magician also released a promo for the event which showed an aerial view and shots of a purple balloon emerging through clouds as the dramatic piano score reaches its crescendo.
Blaine also spoke with Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone on the star’s Instagram page after the stunt was announced.
Speaking to the magician in his Los Angeles home, Sylvester says: “I must admit I’m getting jaded. It’s hard for me to get impressed, but when this guy shows up – time stands still.”
Discussing the specifics of the stunt with Blaine, Sylvester asked: “It’s the most, what would you say, the most ambitious thing probably ever accomplished by a human being?”
However, Blaine is – as ever – eerily calm about the stunt.
The magician said: “No I’m excited. This is all I’ve been thinking about since I was a little kid.”
David Blaine rose to fame in 1997 and his biggest stunts have seen him buried in a box without food and just tablespoons of water to drink under a three-ton tank of water for seven days in 1999, along with standing on a pillar in New York for 72 hours with a million volts of electricity passing through him.
He has also stood suspended in a glass box near Tower Bridge in London for 44 days in 2003.
No doubt David will truly impress us when he shows off his latest stunt.
