Danny Dyer is celebrating his 43rd birthday today and the EastEnders actor has lived a colourful life on and off-screen.

The star, best known for his part in the BBC soap as Mick Carter, has never failed to make headlines due to his wild personality and many exploits over the years.

He has often found himself in hot water with wife Joanne Mas – who he shares three kids with – due to his alleged straying ways, and hasn’t always led the best example on the EastEnders set.

The Essex native seems to have always enjoyed living on the wild side of life and even started taking drugs and stealing from a young age.

He admitted in his autobiography Straight Up: “We’d nip in and nick what we could.

“Or we’d take the train to barking and wait outside a newsagent’s until someone leaned their mountain bike in the window and then nick it.”

Explaining how stealing didn’t get his blood pumping like smoking marijuana did, when he was eight or nine, he added: “I never got a thrill from it, though. I got more of a buzz out of the fact that I’d be getting some puff later on. All we wanted was puff money, twenty Benson and Rizlas.”

And proving that he still likes to dabble in narcotics, he lated penned: “I’ve always taken drugs and probably always will. But there’s a difference between having the odd crafty bump up the snout as a reward for a job well done and letting it rule your life. It’s not like I’m a Blue Peter presenter, is it?”

Danny became a teen dad aged 19 when he and Joanne welcomed first child Dani Dyer but their love story has not always been perfect.

In 2009 Danny admitted to cheating on his partner Joanne, saying: “I’ve done so many things I’ve regretted.

“I’ve royally f**ked up with my missus. I got caught doing something I shouldn’t have.

“I hate myself for what I did and for being tempted by forbidden fruit.”

He’d been caught cheating on his missus after he was pictured naked by a starstruck 21-year-old.

The star honed in on the young brunette at a club and they went back to her bedroom.

The pair swapped numbers after their night together and the student hoped Danny would contact her again – but he never did.

In January 2014, Danny cheated on his partner in a threesome after meeting Cara Chamberlain and her pal at a party in a club.

After bedding the pair, Danny gave each of them one of his T-shirts as a “gift” to remember their night.

The news broke just weeks after tough guy Danny spoke about having to resist women who constantly throw themselves at him.

He confessed: “I have birds throwing themselves at me every f**king day I leave the house – of course. But I know it’s bulls**t and bollocks. I like the power of it. As long as you don’t go there it’s fine.”

In 2017 it emerged that the actor had exchanged messages and explicit pictures of his body with a female fan in the months before he married Jo.

The young mum claimed that in one message Dyer asked her to “bend over and show me that bottle”, which is rhyming slang for backside.

Then on June 27, nine weeks before marrying Jo after more than 20 years together, Dyer sent the woman the picture of his private parts.

He had already sent her an image of himself smoking on a bed the previous April, with the message: “Battered. Xx.”

When she replied: “You look proper sexy,” he said, “You’re a Beaut” and asked for the photographs of her.

Another text referred to her “lills” – a slang word meaning breasts.

But Jo stood by her man and did not let the scandal break up their marriage.

And Danny’s time on EastEnders has also been filled with crazy times with him admitting to pooing himself on set in 2015.

Speaking to Jonathan Ross, five years ago. Danny revealed that doctors were called in to the EastEnders set before Christmas when he was “a mess” and lost control of his bodily functions after overworking on the show, having filmed a whopping 178 episodes in 2014.

Going into graphic detail he said: “I was so exhausted I s**t my pants. I got so ill. I was spewing up and pony-ing everywhere. It was like a crime scene, I had to give the cleaner extra reddies.

“I wasn’t allowed to leave until a doctor came and then he said, ‘he’s exhausted, let him go’. It was during the Christmas stuff and I got so emotional I lost the plot.”

Danny also got drunk whilst filming the soap his co-star Danny-Boy Hatchard recently revealed.

During a chat with The Daily Star , Hatchard recalled a time when he and Dyer were drinking from a real beer pump during filming in the Queen Vic.

“Behind the bar in the Vic, one of the pumps used to be a real pump. It used to let out real beer,” he explained.

“We was filming a scene where me and him would down half a pint. But there was quite a few technical difficulties going on, so me and him were downing seven or eight or nine half pints.

“By the end we was f**king hammered. And then we had a full day’s worth of filming. Luckily, we were able to sober ourselves up, but it was a rookie mistake.”
