Clean Bandit star says urging people to vote has put her off getting into politics

Clean Bandit were some of former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s most vocal supporters, and fans have even called for cellist Grace Chatto to run for Parliament

We all know the last election turned into a “pantomime” but canvassing celebs didn’t expect to get hissed at in the street – oh no, they didn’t…

Chart-toppers Clean Bandit were some of former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn ’s most vocal supporters, and fans have even called for cellist Grace Chatto to run for Parliament.

But she says the experience of volunteering to help encourage voters was enough to put her off any venture into politics. “I was canvassing and it became a pantomime-like situation,” she says.

“The Tory canvassers near where we were tried to get rid of us. They were almost hissing at us. It was this ridiculous, schoolyard situation.”

She added: “It was so emotionally taxing. And the dirty manoeuvres… It was so difficult to deal with. I don’t think I’d be thick-skinned enough for politics. Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell behaved with such dignity. I don’t think I could ever be that dignified.”

Grace, 34, is now backing new leader Keir Starmer and says: “I respect him hugely. I will obviously vote for him when the time comes. I just hope the Labour Party will retain some of the left-wing policies the public did actually love.”

Clean Bandit release their new song Tick Tock with singer Mabel, and featuring US rapper 24kGoldn, today.

Miley’s divorce from Liam

Who knew that divorce by numbers had become a thing?

Miley Cyrus had a pretty mechanical breakup from Liam Hemsworth.

The singer wrote a list of pros and cons, giving each a numerical value, to work out if she was better off without him.

The couple split last year after ten months of marriage. “I’m a very logical person,” Miley tells Apple Music.

“I am obsessed with lists. I’m a visual thinker. I need to see it. And I need to look at it and evaluate it and its value to me… its addition or subtraction to my being.”

She added: “So when dealing with heartbreak, I look at what’s being added, what’s being subjected, and I write down each on each side of the scale.

“Then I measure from one to ten – ten being the greatest – what they’re contributing, or not, to my life. And then I look at those numbers… and I can make a logical decision based on numbers.”
