Publisher Soedesco and developer Zanardi and Liza, along with Soedesco Studios, have announced the release date for the upcoming action game Dog Duty.
Dog Duty stars a group of misfit fighters as they fight against the evil Octopus Commander and his army. The evil villain is threatening the peaceful world, and it’s up to the Dog Duty soldiers to stop their plans. The battle takes place in an open-world setting since players will be traveling across the map in their octo-fryer vehicle.
The game is a real-time tactics game where users use various combat skills and vehicles across various islands and more. Players will have to fight to liberate outposts and defeat the Octopus Commander’s commanders-in-charge. The bosses all have unique octo-machines capable of shooting projectiles and shooting fire.
The game was inspired by retro games and tv shows such as Commanders and G.I. Joe, along with villains like Mojo Jojo from The Powerpuff Girls and Dr. Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog.
Players start off the game assembling a three-person squad to prepare for battle. They will then work to liberate various outposts for a purpose: cutting off weapons, armor, and other supplies working for the Octo-army. While traveling to different islands, players will fight on top of the octo-frying vehicle. Each island has to be liberated before the final face-off against the Octopus Commander.
The full launch will include a brand new “Horde Mode.” ow squads will battle against waves of octo-enemies and try to survive for as long as possible. The new game mode is located under the “Play” option in the main menu.
The game is currently available in Steam Early Access now. Since its Early Access launch, the developers have continually worked to patch issues within the game, add new animations, and fix other issues reported by players.
The Early Access version of the game is slightly lower than the full release for those who want to purchase it early.
Dog Duty will include additional achievements. There are 22 Steam achievements listed on the Early Access store page. The game has around 22 supported languages but will have English language audio.
Dog Duty launches on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 17.
