Chrissy Teigen’s mother Vilailuck has shared the moment she met her late grandson Jack in a heartbreaking video.
Vilailuck posted a video on Instagram which shows her sobbing as she holds Jack, who is swaddled in a blanket, before giving him a kiss.
Her 34-year-old daughter, Chrissy, had announced on Wednesday that she had tragically lost her third child with husband John Legend, around halfway into her pregnancy.
Vilailuck shared several photos from her time with Jack at the hospital and she captioned the tearful photos: “My heart aches love you so much baby Jack.”
In the video, Chrissy’s mum is seen being given Jack into her arms and she soon begins to sob as the hospital worker informs her: “You can touch him if you want.”
The emotional scene sees Vilailuck placing her hand on Jack before bending down to give him a kiss.
In the other photos that she has shared, Vilailuck is seen holding the swaddled-up child in her arms.
Chrissy had been hospitalised at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night with heavy bleeding due to having a weak placenta and had been at the hospital since.
On Wednesday evening, Chrissy took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news with fans that she and her husband, 41, are mourning the loss of their son Jack.
Alongside the photos, Chrissy opened up about their loss as she wrote: “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before.”
Chrissy continued: “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.
“We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital.
“But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us.
“Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.
“To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.”
Chrissy added: “Thank you to everyone who has been sending us positive energy, thoughts and prayers. We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you.
“We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we’ve been able to experience.
“But everyday can’t be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it.”
Husband John also took to social media to mourn the loss of their son.
On Twitter he wrote: “We love you, Jack” alongside a string of black heart emojis.
Chrissy and John had announced their pregnancy in August.
The couple married in September 2013 after being together for six years.
They have two other children together – a four-year-old daughter named Luna and a two-year-old son named Miles.
