Cyberpunk 2077‘s post-launch content will be revealed soon, as CD Projekt Red said as much during a recent investor’s conference.
Earlier this week, Adam Kiciński, the president of CD Projekt Red, told investors that they will reveal the details for Cyberpunk 2077’s post-launch DLC before the game is released for consoles and PC in November.
“Yes, you can expect a similar path to The Witcher 3 after release,” said CD Projekt Red’s president. “You can expect more, actually. We’re not going into too many details today, but everything will be clear before release.
“As we are close to the release, expect the post-release plans to be revealed fairly soon; a series of free DLCs and expansions will be described – as I said, you can expect it fairly soon and then everything will be made clear.”
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt had two story expansions added post-launch — Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone — as well as sixteen DLC packs, which included new quests, weapons, armor, and a new game plus mode. So, it looks like Cyberpunk 2077 will have, at the very least, three story expansions, and over sixteen additional DLC packs. Also, CD Projekt Red has said that their new first-person, open-world RPG will get both free and paid expansions.
Also during the aforementioned investor’s conference, CD Projekt Red’s president said that Cyberpunk 2077 is still on track to be released in November. He also noted that the game’s price tag, $59.99, won’t change.
“So yes, we are confirming and, well, actually today we started preparing for the final certification, so we’re very close. Of course we’ll work on the title till the very end; that’s kind of normal. It’s a huge game, but as we said – everything is on track and we’re planning to launch it on 19 November.
“As I mentioned when answering the previous question, we already announced – a while ago – preorders for our game in the US going at $59.99 and we’re not planning to change that price at the last minute.”
The current-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 will be playable on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X via backward compatibility, and CD Projekt Red is planning on releasing the next-gen version sometime in 2021. Also, it’s worth noting that both the current and next-gen version will launch as single-player experiences, as the game’s multiplayer expansion won’t be added until 2022.
Barring any delays, Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 19.
