Caroline Flack was being “harassed by an ex-partner” in the run up to her suicide, court reports have revealed.

The Love Island host was just 40-years-old when she took her own life on 15 February this year – and weeks after being arrested for assault following an incident at her North London home in December 2019.

A psychiatrist who examined her reported that the late television presenter’s stress and anxiety levels had been increased by the unnamed stalker in the run up to her 2019 arrest.

The Crown Prosecution Service was handed the information two months before Caroline died as she fought to clear her name and have her assault case thrown out.

The psychiatrist advised that the harassment Caroline suffered from the ex had contributed to a deterioration in her mental health, the Daily Star reports.

Prosecutors ruled, however, that the information did not relate to the case of her allegedly assaulting boyfriend Lewis Burton.

Caroline was advised to report the stalking to police, while ruling it was a separate crime to the assault case.

The individual accused of harassing behaviour was not called to testify during an inquest to Caroline’s death – and the court was ordered not to name them.

Coroner Mary Hassell, who recorded a verdict of suicide during the inquest this month into Caroline’s death, did however confirm the individual was not 28-year-old Lewis who is believe to have remained in a relationship with the TV star until her death.

While the Daily Star reports a Metropolitan Police spokesperson stating the force could not find a record of a harassment allegation made by the star.

Family of Caroline have accused the Crown Prosecution Service of causing the TV host’s death.

Mum Christine Flack said the star would still be alive if the CPS had dropped it’s assault case against her.

She said: “If it had been an ordinary person you wouldn’t have prosecuted.

“I just think you should be disgusted with yourself.

“There is nothing we can do to bring Caroline back. That girl killed herself because you put an appeal through.”

Lewis was reportedly struck in the head by a mobile phone during an argument, causing bleeding, during the alleged assault leading to Caroline’s arrest.

The tennis star has strenuously denied he was assaulted by the star.
