Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt’s unexpected story from avocado toast to baby

Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt’s unexpected story from avocado toast to baby

There have been some big couples to emerge from the Love Island villa – think Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes, or Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham.

But while most have fallen by the wayside, an unexpected success story has endured in the form of underdog Camilla Thurlow and boyfriend Jamie Jewitt, who welcomed their first born today.

The besotted couple are now proud parents to Nell Sophia Jewitt, who was born at 4:32am. Sharing adorable pictures of their little one on Instagram, Camilla, 31, wrote: “There may be a thousand new photos on my camera roll, but none of them could ever do justice to the way you have lit up our lives.”

It’s a joyful outcome for Island favourite Camilla, who had the nation rooting for her after she was dumped by Jonny Mitchell and had to rebuff the advances of a heavily-smitten Craig Lawson in the 2017 series.

But just as it was starting to look like romance wouldn’t happen for her, in walked hunky former Calvin Klein model Jamie Jewitt with the sole intention of wooing the posh humanitarian – who once got off with Prince Harry.

And unlike their co-stars, whose relationships have crashed and burned, three years on the couple is still going strong, making them one of the class of 2017’s biggest success stories (bar Dom Lever and Jess Shears of course).

So what is it about their dynamic that has helped the pair go the distance?

Jamie was sent in to Love Island at the last minute as a match for Camilla

From the moment they met the photographic pair were matched both in body and mind.

They bonded over books and Camilla’s work clearing landmines in Afghanistan, and Jamie made her the cutest avocado birthday toast you’ve ever seen.

And despite Camilla having more walls than Alcatraz, her defences proved useless against the 30-year-old’s charms.

“I am falling for him and I’m trying really hard not to and so I’m fighting every feeling,” she told her fellow Islanders, before announcing that she was battening down the hatches and would not be sleeping with him until they left the house.

But that didn’t last long with Camilla giving in to her animal urges and enjoying an adult cuddle in bed.

“I can confirm he doesn’t have a small penis,” she told co-star Montana Brown afterwards.

“I can confirm he’s perfect, and he also has a perfect penis.”

The couple share a love of charity work and the great outdoors

They quickly became the bookies’ favourite to win, but everything suddenly crumbled when Camilla failed a lie detector test about whether or not she thought they were compatible.

The reason? Because she thought she ‘wasn’t good enough’ for Jamie.

“I know we’re compatible. I know we have so much in common and I watch how amazing he is and part of me is thinking I can’t keep up,” she said, breaking down in tears.

“It’s that overriding voice that takes over that I’m not good enough for him.”

Jamie sprung into action and calmed her fears, admitting he wanted her to keep seeing her on the outside.

Camilla and Jamie were inseparable after leaving the villa

And after coming in second place and leaving the villa, they only managed to spend three days apart in a month.

But it wasn’t all hearts and roses, with Jamie opening up about his secret battle with depression, admitting he’s gone to a ‘bad place’ and thanking Camilla for supporting him.

“I lived a flash life being a model but coming from that I was very depressed. I wasn’t at all happy,” he said.

“My parents know I’ve been depressed for over a year or two just before I went into the villa, I was in a pretty bad place. I got to that stage where I was completely aware of it and I needed to get out of it, the hole I was in.

“Cam hasn’t seen that side of me fortunately, that’s obviously down to way situations have changed and being able to have the platform I’ve had to do things I want to do.

Jamie and Camilla share the same values

“She’s been great, I told her all about my past and talked about it.”

Rather than chase fame, they kept things low key, visiting refugee camps and taking part in charity walks for landmine clearing charity The HALO Trust.

Proving to be too cute for words, they wore matching ears for Children In Need and spent weekends enjoying the great outdoors away from the London party scene.

“I know being with Camilla and working on projects like this make me smile and that’s what I’m doing at the moment,” Jamie said of their noble pursuits.

“We haven’t left each other’s side since we left the villa,” he continued.

“It is incredible to have met someone like Cam who has the same interests as me, which is why we still getting on so well now.
