Caitlyn Jenner has revealed she has reached out to her close I’m A Celeb pal Kate Garraway after hearing about her husband’s COVID battle.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, who formed a strong bond with the Good Morning Britain host in the jungle, says she’s devastated by the tragedy that has affected Kate’s family.
Opening up about the moment they reconnected in a candid new interview, Caitlyn, 70, said: “I talked to her the other day and as soon as we got on the phone, that voice of hers, I was like ‘Oh my God, that voice of hers, it has a familiarity’.”
Caitlyn said she couldn’t believe what Kate has had to endure after they left the Australian outback.
“Kate, when she came home, her husband and coronavirus – it’s been a tragedy,” said the US star.
Back in March Kate’s husband Derek was rushed to hospital after being struck down by symptoms of the coronavirus.
He managed to fight off the deadly virus and has been taken out of a medically induced coma, but lies in a minimum state of consciousness, leaving him unable to walk or talk.
Kate and her children still await Derek’s return home following his six month stay in intensive care.
Caitlyn said she was heartbroken for Kate and her children as they patiently wait for Derek to recover.
During I’m A Celebrity, the two women formed a close friendship.
Kate and Caitlyn reunited earlier last month on GMB, where the presenter interviewed her pal.
Caitlyn told Kate: “It’s so good to hear your voice again. Best of luck to your family.”
Showing off their friendship earlier the same day, Kate shared a snap on her Insatgram.
She penned: “My first breakfast on leaving the #jungle with @caitlynjenner – back then she joked when she next came on @gmb I would be the only interviewer she’s ever showered with!
“She’s on @gmb live tomorrow and we can’t even be in the same room let alone shower together! Can’t wait to catch up with her though and find out what’s going on in her world & hear her take on her son in law #kanyewest.”
Caitlyn also revealed she still remains in contact with her other co-stars, and will often meet them when she visits London.
