Britney Spears ‘wants to remove dad Jamie as her sole conservator in legal bid’

Pop princess Britney Spears is reportedly seeking to remove her father Jamie Spears as the sole conservator of her person and estate

Pop star Britney Spears is reportedly seeking to remove her father Jamie Spears as her sole conservator.

The Womanizer singer, 38, was placed under a conservatorship in 2008 after her much-publicised breakdown and divorce from Kevin Federline, with her father having a major role in the handling of her finances and person since.

According to The Sun, Britney has filed legal documents requesting that her care manager Jodi Montgomery be appointed as the sole conservator of her person, replacing Jamie Spears.

Montgomery had previously taken on the role in a temporary capacity in September last year as Jamie stepped back due to health reasons.

Jamie has continued to be solely responsible for her estate despite his health concerns.

“Britney is strongly opposed to having [Jamie] return as conservator of her person,” noted the document, according to the paper.

“Rather, she strongly prefers to have Ms. Montgomery continue in that role as has done for nearly a year… Britney would like Ms. Montgomery’s appointment as conservator of her person to be made permanent.”

The document also reportedly says that Britney is “strongly opposed” to Jamie continuing to his role as the sole conservator of her estate too, and would rather appoint a “qualified corporate fiduciary” to take care of these issues.

Mirror Online has reached out to representatives of Britney Spears and Jamie Spears for comment.

There is reportedly due to be a hearing on Wednesday regarding her conservatorship, which the documents submitted suggest Britney desires a dramatic overhaul of the system to reflect her current lifestyle – which is said to not include performing.

Montgomery is now in charge of handling her personal affairs until at least August 22, 2020, according to court documents seen by ET.

Jamie previously hit out the #FreeBritney movement started by the singer’s fans to get her conservatorship removed.

He told Page Six : “All these conspiracy theorists don’t know anything. The world don’t have a clue.

“It’s up to the court of California to decide what’s best for my daughter. It’s no one else’s business.”

Britney’s father reiterated his love for his daughter and slammed fans who were sending him “death threats”.
