Britney Spears’ cryptic post as lawyers warn she’ll never perform again under dad’s control
Britney Spears posted about ‘jumping towards your dreams’ after her lawyers told a court she is ‘afraid’ of her father and won’t work again until he’s removed from her conservatorship
Britney Spears has made a cryptic post on social media after her lawyers warned that she’d never perform again as long as she remains under the current terms of her conservatorship.
The Baby One More Time singer, 38, has asked a judge in Los Angeles to remove her father, Jamie, from her conservatorship, which has allowed him to control her finances and personal life since her public breakdown in 2008, with her lawyers saying she is “afraid” of him and they no longer speak.
Taking to her Instagram account on Tuesday night, Britney told her fans to “keep jumping towards your dreams”.
She shared an old fashioned black and white picture of a group of children playing in the street, with three little girls jumping over a skipping rope while two other children turned it.
Her snap appeared to be referencing the court case, and her fans rushed to the comments section to offer their support.
One posted: “Everything is going to be OK, baby.”
“Love you, your freedom is coming,” another posted alongside dancing and heart eye emojis.
A third said: “Keep jumping baby! I love you so much, we’re here for you and we’ll get through this!”
“Freedom is coming soon!” another told her.
Mirror Online has contacted Britney’s reps for comment.
This week a court heard how Britney has vowed to not work again while her father is in control of her life.
Samuel D Ingham, who is representing Britney, told the courtroom that Britney has told him on several occasions that “she is afraid of her father” and they have no working relationship and no longer speak.
Vivian Thoreen, representing Jamie, said he hadn’t spoken to his daughter who had been advised by legal teams to cut contact.
Reps for Jamie said that when he took control of Britney’s affairs, her personal estate was subject to lawsuits reportedly in their millions but he has now turned her fortune around, to an estimated £45 million.
