Bono finally revealed why he wears his coloured glasses in 2014, saying it is for glaucoma.
He was on The Graham Norton Show with his bandmates promoting their free online album Songs of Innocence.
The singer said: “This is a good place to explain to people that I’ve had glaucoma for the last 20 years. I have good treatments and I am going to be fine.”
After assuring fans, Bono should be able to find whatever it is he is looking for.
Glaucoma is a common eye condition that can lead to a loss of vision if it is not treated and is “usually caused by fluid building up in the front part of the eye, which increases pressure inside the eye”.
It can affect people of all ages, but is generally most common in people in their 70s and 80s.
Bono then quipped: “You’re not going to get this out of your head now and you will be saying, ‘Ah, poor old blind Bono.’”

Bono’s glaucoma isn’t the only health issue that has had fans worried in recent years, and he previously opened up to NME about a brush with death.
The health scare was believed to be a source of inspiration for the album Songs of Experience, released in 2017.
He said the experience was a bit like previous problems he’d had, though “not quite at this level”. However, the singing star explained he didn’t “want to get too into the details of it”.
U2 guitarist The Edge added: “It was serious enough that he genuinely had a major fright. But where that brought him to as a writer was an amazing place.”
Thankfully, after this experience and a 2015 bike crash, Bono said he had reassessed things regarding his health.
He added: “I really love being alive and I’m quite good at being alive, meaning I like to get the best out of any day. It was the first time I put my shoulder to the door and it didn’t open.
“I feel God whispered to me, ‘Next time, try knocking at the door, or just try the handle. Don’t use your shoulder because you’ll break it.'”
