Vardy loses ‘Wagatha Christie’ libel case against Coleen Rooney
Rebekah Vardy shot to the spotlight after her Instagram account was named as the profile responsible for leaking stories about Coleen Rooney.
Dancing on Ice star Rebekah, 40, has always vehemently denied the claims made by Coleen in October 2019, in which Wayne Rooney‘s wife detailed a sting operation to whittle down who out of those she “trusted” had been leaking stories to the tabloids.
Rebekah resorted to suing Coleen for libel in a headline grabbing trial dubbed the Wagatha Christie case.
After months of preparation and a seven day long hearing at the High Court in London judge Mrs Justice Steyn today ruled in favour of Coleen, 36.

Both Becky and Coleen have shared statements in reaction to the ruling, leaving Coleen “pleased” and Becky “extremely sad and disappointed”.
As the nearly three year long feud between the two WAGs comes to a close, PR experts have weighed in on what they think Becky’s next moves will be.
Brand expert Nick Ede explains how along with the £3million she has lost from the case, Rebekah will also lose a number of future opportunities, too.
He said: “I think that in conjunction with the £3million she has lost from the court case, she will also lose a lot from social media campaigns and TV show appearances, books etc. I think she could lose up to £5million in revenue.”

Nick added that Rebekah has “gained the wrong kind of notoriety” putting her at risk of being framed as an “anti-hero”.
However, brand expert Nick noted that it doesn’t always have to go badly for those who lose legal battles as Anna Sorokin, who was convicted for stealing more than $200,000, went on to work on a Netflix drama on her life.
He added that although it would be wise for Rebekah to “go to ground” and spend time focussing on her family, she may soon be able to profit from the undoubted incoming deals.

In Becky’s statement following the verdict, she admitted the ruling is “something I cannot accept”.
She added: “As I explained in my evidence I, my family and even my unborn baby, were subjected to disgusting messages and vile abuse following Coleen’s Post and these have continued even during the course of the trial.
“Please can the people who have been abusing me and my family now stop. The case is over.”
Meanwhile, Nick noted that Coleen has handled the case with “strong and sure footing”.
Wayne Rooney’s wife insisted she “made constant efforts to avoid the need for such a public and drawn out court case” after three attempts to settle out of court.
