Anthea Turner has vowed to stay sexy at 60.
The former Blue Peter presenter is refusing to be “pigeonholed” by her age after reaching the milestone in May.
She says: “I don’t want to be mutton dressed as lamb, but nothing will stop me wearing tight, sexy clothes.”
“Youth and vitality isn’t in a pot of cream, it’s in your attitude and the way you look at life.”
Anthea, who says she is “feeling philosophical” since entering her sixties, admits she cannot “get away” with the same outfits she wore in her 20s and 30s, since passing 50.
But, joking, she adds in New magazine: “There’s no such thing as cellulite, just bad light.”
Meanwhile, Botox enthusiast Anthea has blasted the lengthy closure of beauty salons during the pandemic as being “appalling”.
She says it has damaged the mental wellbeing of users. Anthea, who has Botox every six months, says of the cosmetic procedure: “It affects people and their mental health, and the way they feel. Vanity has been part of our culture since time began.”
The presenter is engaged to tycoon Mark Armstrong. But the couple have had to postpone their wedding plans due to coronavirus restrictions, after originally planning to tie the knot this summer.
Danny Dyer becomes agony uncle
The last time Danny Dyer tried his hand at becoming an agony uncle, it didn’t go too well for him.
But Spotify has still signed him up to a new problems podcast along with his daughter, Love Island winner Dani. The pair will be answering dilemmas and personal life issues sent in by members of the public.
Back in 2010, Danny’s advice column in Zoo magazine suggested that a heartbroken young fellow should “cut his ex’s face, so no one will want her” – prompting understandable outrage from domestic violence charities.
After an initial row with Zoo over whether he was misquoted, Danny later admitted he had told “a bad joke” to the journalist who was filing his column.
“Even as it came out of my mouth I wasn’t proud of it… but I never thought for a minute they’d stick it in the magazine,” he said in 2013.
“It just makes me feel sick that people would believe that I’m this misogynist who would advise somebody to cut a woman’s face.”
Calling for fans to submit their problems for him to solve, Danny’s current advice is: “Stay safe and stay proper.”
