Adele ‘thrilled’ to be back in UK for first public performance in five years

Adele epitomised glamour in a black, glittering gown as she belted out her hits during her second evening at the BST Hyde Park Festival in London.

The singer, 34, took to the stage last night for her first public show since 2017 in Wembley, and returned this evening to perform in front of a 65,000 strong crowd.

Fittingly, Hello was Adele’s first song of the night, with her going on to perform tracks from her latest album, 30, and then some of her vintage anthems, like Someone Like You and Rolling In The Deep.

The superstar donned a floor length black, off the shoulder dress, with a cinched in waist. The pleated skirt dripped in sequins, as did her belt.

She wore large hoop earrings with her hair down, and her trademark statement black eyeliner.

During the show, Adele reportedly sipped on a hot drink to soothe her throat, and keep vocal issues at bay.

Before she took to the stage, the audience were entertained by an all female line-up, including Self Esteem, Gabrielle and Kasey Musgraves.

Last night, As Adele belted out her 2011 record-breaking hit, Someone Like You, the multi-award-winning songstress was brought to tears by the stunning sounds of the audience hitting every note and lyric of the emotional smash-hit.

She was visibly overcome with emotion before she even made it through her first song, telling the audience, ‘My God, I’m back at home’.

“It’s so strange to be in front of a crowd again. I get so nervous before each show but I love being up here,” she added.

Following her stellar performance, Adele took to Instagram to thank her fans for their never-ending support.

The London-native shared a series of snaps from the incredible performance as she captioned the post: “Hyde Park Night 1. What a crowd!! Thank you my loves, I can’t wait to do it all again tonight.”

Adele put on a confident display as she entertained the incredible crowd, no doubt determined to put on a show to remember after she devastated fans when she cancelled her Las Vegas residency at the final hour in January.

Her 12-week show, Weekends with Adele, was due to kick off at Las Vegas’ Caesar’s Palace on January 21.

However, just one day before the shows were set to kick off, Adele took to her Instagram to announce that she would be postponing the shows.

Many fans were left out of pocket as some had already made their way to Las Vegas and spent money on hotels and travel arrangements.

During her emotional return to the live stage on Friday night, Adele showed off her weight loss in a black figure-hugging gown which featured a plunging neckline and cut out shoulders.

She made sure to amp up the glamour with a sophisticated up-do and her signature winged eyeliner and nude lip.
