Britney Spears and Kevin Federline tied the knot on September 18, 2004 – marking today as their wedding anniversary, if they had remained married.
The pop princess – who shares two sons with her former husband – ended their union in 2006 but their big day was one to remember!
The couple had planned to wed at the luxury Bacara resort in Santa Barbara on October 16, but their dreams were crushed when details of the event were leaked – which led to a secret wedding being held.
Initiations were originally extended to 250 people but due to the last minute surprise nuptials only 27 of their nearest and dearest were in attendance.
The big day took place on September 18 and Britney’s wedding planner Alyson Fox held the service in her own £2million Studio City home.
Guests thought they were attending an engagement party, only to be told it was a wedding when they walked through the door.
Many thought the former child star and rapper said ‘I do’ in Juicy Couture tracksuits after snaps emerged of the couple in velvet joggers and hoodies with Britney’s jacket emblazoned with ‘Mrs Federline’ and Kevin’s ‘The Pimp’.
The groomsmen were also spotted donning loungewear with ‘Pimps’ on the back and the bridal party in similar getups with ‘Maids’ scrawled on in gemstones – however these were just the afterparty outfits.
For the ceremony Britney walked down the aisle in a $26,000 Monique Lhuillier strapless silk gown and lace gloves while the bridesmaids wore $3,000 red gowns by the same designer.
After the vows took place Kevin proceeded to pull Britney’s garter off with his teeth – during a raunchy dance – in front of their families.
And after they dined and danced the newlyweds rocked up to LA nightclub XES, where Britney showcased her dance moves on a pole.
