Fearne Cotton shares snap of rarely seen stepson as he heads off to university
The TV star got emotional as stepson Arthur was packed off to university to start his first term this weekend
Fearne Cotton gave a rare glimpse of her rarely seen stepson as he headed off to university.
The TV presenter is stepmum to her husband Jesse Woods’ two teens, Arthur, 18, and Lola, 14, also shares children Rex, seven, and Honey, five, with the guitarist.
This weekend the family went through a major milestone as eldest Arthur left home to start a new chapter.
Fearne, 39, was clearly feeling emotional at the prospect as she took to Instagram to pay tribute to her stepson by sharing two snaps of them together.
“This chap is off to uni today and I couldn’t be more proud. Cool, calm and collected as always as he starts a whole new chapter of life. Swipe to see the most rapid growth spurt known to man. My destiny being to end up as the shortest member of our family within the next decade. Good luck Arthur my lovely step son! You’ve got this! #offtouni,” she penned.
Fearne married Jesse, the son of Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood in a star-studded ceremony in 2014, and became stepmum to the children he shares with his first wife Tilly.
Earlier this year Fearne, who has a close relationship with her step-kids, called for an end to the ‘evil’ stereotypes of step-parents in children’s books.
She tweeted: “Blended families are common place but the representation of step parents (especially mums, it never seems to be the step father) in kids fiction needs to change to suit the times.”
Explained her reason for her request, Fearne went on: “An author visited my sons school this week to read a new novel where once again the step mother featured as an evil character.
“Isn’t it about time we represented step parents in children’s fiction in a more positive way. I’ve been a step mum for 9 years now. It’s been a purely positive experience for all involved.
