Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s remarks encouraging American citizens to vote in the upcoming 2020 election was a “violation” of their exit deal with the royal family, and Page Six says there are now discussions regarding whether they’ll be stripped of their royal titles.
The outlet claims Meghan and Prince Harry managed to spark the ire of the other members of the royal family after both parties called on the American citizenry to “reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity.”
The Sunday Times was the first to report on the news following Meghan’s comments in which she told Americans to get out to the polls. According to multiple outlets, members of the British aristocracy are supposed to remain politically natural and had promised they would do so if they resigned from the family.
A source who spoke with the outlet claims royal family members feel as though it’s a “violation of the agreement.” Buckingham Palace reportedly released a statement this past week in which a representative said that comments made by Prince Harry were not representative of them.

Moreover, royal insiders claim Buckingham Palace was humiliated by Meghan and Prince Harry’s political statements, considering most believed they were jabs at the president. Reportedly, voicing political opposition is a problem because it puts the Queen into a difficult position if Trump wins again.
Since then, discussions regarding what the family intends to do with Meghan and Harry have revolved around whether they should strip them of their titles so their comments don’t reflect poorly on the rest of the British elite.
Another aide said to The Sunday Times that the aristocracy believes they may have to put more of a distance between themselves and Harry and the Suits alum, who left the family at the start of the year following Prince Andrew’s Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
Meghan and Harry aren’t the only celebrities to encourage citizens to vote. Earlier this year, Lil’ Dicky, the Dave creator, jokingly posted a photo of himself without any clothes on in an attempt to scare potential voters into registering.
