Kirsty Gallacher says she feels anxiety over her financial situation in light of the devastating impact coronavirus has had on her work opportunities.

The 44-year-old mum-of-two recently launched her podcast, Stripped Back Sport, which has been keeping her occupied during lockdown.

But she says her freelance work has all dried up due to the pandemic and the virus’s impact on sports, and the effect of lockdown rules.

Kirsty – who has been a television presenter since 1998 – says her freelance work in the worlds of corporate events and sporting fixtures disappeared when lockdown was announced back in March.

And as a result, her once hectic schedule for the year 2020 became suddenly empty.

Opening up to The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, the star said: “It’s been scary for everyone.

“So many people who thought they were fine are now possibly in a lot of trouble and I felt the anxiety very much.

“I work a lot in the corporate and event industries, especially in the spring and summer for all the sports that goes on. That was all wiped out.

“I’ve done it for years and I love it, but of course it’s work and money, and I’m no different to anyone else in being hit.

“But having said that, there have been massive pluses about being in this suspended state, and for me it’s allowed me to get to grips with what I really wanted to do.”

With free time on her hands, Kirsty went on to say she has been bonding with her sons, Oscar, 13, and 10-year-old Jude, who she homeschooled when schools were closed during lockdown.

Kirsty shares her boys with ex-husband, 43-year-old rugby star Paul Sampson, who she divorced in 2015.

In the same interview, Kirsty said she has found herself more content in her own company, having had days where she would be on her own in her home in Berkshire when her kids would be at their father’s.
