Ellen DeGeneres is getting rid of some very expensive items from her extensive art collection, including some bizarre sheep sculptures.
The talk show host – who this summer found herself embroiled in endless controversy – has put over $10 million in art from her private collection on the auction block.
She’s been giving fans glimpses of the peculiar sheep sculptures whilst hosting her show from home at the start of the pandemic.
Despite appearances, the sheep sculptures are actually worth an eye-watering amount.
According to Bloomberg, the Ovine pieces by French designer Francois-Xavier Lalanne are priced at $500,000 to $1 million each.
What’s more, some of them have already been snapped up by keen buyers.
The 62-year-old has a lot of artwork in her home, mostly because her wife Portia De Rossi has her own art-tech start up company.
Ellen is also selling a pricy Jean-Michel Basquiat work on paper, as well as a mobile sculpture by Alexander Calder.
The mobile sculpture is being flogged off through Sotheby’s Gallery in the Hamptons.
On top of these pieces, Ellen is also hoping to make a sizeable profit by selling a Basquiat painting through the Van de Weghe Fine Art Gallery.
Ellen this week returned to her show after a summer of controversy and allegations of a “toxic workplace environment” at her show.
She was slammed by past and present employees with accusations that she has enabled a “toxic culture” behind the scenes.
She found herself engulfed in accusations of bullying behaviour by not only employees, but past guests and even fellow celebs – with many insisting her mean nature is common knowledge among the Hollywood elite.
The accusations have forced WarnerMedia to launch an investigation at The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as rumours continued to swirl about Ellen and whether or not she would be replaced on the show.
But these rumours were put to rest as Ellen was back on the Warner Bros lot, as she kicked off her Season 18 show with a lengthy monologue.
