Publisher Team17 and developer Ghost Town Games recently launched Overcooked 1 and 2 into a blended title called Overcooked! All You Can Eat. The game contains all of the released content, plus additional content, and optimized gameplay. The developer also announced all-new accessibility options that will bring the cooking frenzy fun to a broader audience.
The new Assist Mode comes with a number of features and options. Players can increase level times, so players don’t feel so rushed. If players have problems completing a level, the option will boost scores and lengthen recipe times, so players have a better chance of receiving a high score. A new option to toggle order expiration will be an even bigger help for those struggling to complete a meal before customers get upset. For more difficult challenges, players can skip levels.
Accessibility options don’t change the core gameplay, but make it easier for gamers having issues with the UI. The options include a setting to change chef indicators to be more color-blind friendly. Instead of using colors, the indicators change to shapes. Players who are vision-impaired will also be able to activate a scalable UI, plus there is a setting to enable dyslexia-friendly text. The menu was also updated.
The new settings will ensure a more positive, fun experience for more gamers. These new settings are some of the few new features coming to Overcooked! All You Can Eat.
In a blog post this Summer, Team 17 outlined some of the changes coming to Overcooked! All You Can Eat. The games are now included in one experience with over 200 levels of “culinary chaos.” However, those who have already experienced the game will get a few extra features.
Overcooked! All You Can Eat has been updated with seven new levels plus three new chefs. For those who want more challenging tasks, the game adds new trophies and achievements to work for. Since the game will launch on next-gen consoles, the game will be updated with 60 FPS gameplay in 4K resolution. The game was also optimized so it will load much faster than previous installments.
Overcooked was rebuilt using the Overcooked 2 engine, so players enjoying the new title can play online with players on the original game. Cross-platform multiplayer means an even bigger online multiplayer experience, as well.
The exact release date for Overcooked! All You Can Eat is not yet known, but is currently in development. Since the next-gen consoles won’t be out until November at the earliest, the game isn’t expected until at least Winter 2020.
Overcooked! All You Can Eat will be available digitally and physically for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
