Spider-Man: Miles Morales Gameplay Officially Revealed For The First Time At Sony’s PlayStation 5 Online Event

One of the few launch titles we know of for the PlayStation 5 is Spider-Man: Miles Morales, an add-on to the hugely popular Spider-Man game that delighted players on the PlayStation 4.

We got more than six minutes of high quality action in this footage, showcasing Miles and his new abilities in breathtaking fashion. We see that Miles’s mother is now a politician in Harlem. The new Spidey attends his mother’s rally when, of course, all hell breaks loose.

We then get some high quality action of Miles saving people and fighting villains on a huge bridge. We get to see many of his new powers in action, including camouflage.

Brian Horton, the creative director at Insomniac Games comes on the screen to tell us a little bit about the game.

“Our story picks up one year after the events of the first game,” he said, talking about a major conflict between the Roxxon Oil Company and a mysterious militaristic faction called The Underground, which is run by Marvel villain The Tinkerer.

The Tinkerer was seen recently on the big screen as one of The Vulture’s sidekicks in Marvel’s Spider-Man Homecoming, though he was never named as such. He was the character that used alien technology to create all of The Vulture’s various gadgets and weapons.

In the bridge action sequence we can see that the controls for Spider-Man: Miles Morales seem to be very similar to those of the original Spider-Man game. There were a number of button mashing events coupled with an excess of web shooting that allows you to interact with the environment.

The first Spider-Man game followed Peter Parker, the original Spider-Man, while also introducing us to Miles Morales.

Though Miles has no Spidey powers in the original game, we still got to take control of him several times, running through a number of civilian missions. These are similar to the Mary Jane Watson missions where you’re mostly interacting with the environment while avoiding detection from enemies.

It is currently unknown if Peter will play a role in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but it seems as though we’re going to primarily be focusing on the new super hero in town.

It should also be noted that Insomniac Games has confirmed that Spider-Man: Miles Morales is not an official sequel to its earlier Spidey adventure. It was described as an addition to the existing Spider-Man game.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will release alongside the PlayStation 5 when it launches this holiday season.
