Amber Heard branded Johnny Depp a “fat”, “washed-up” has-been who will “die a lonely man”, a court heard today.
Heard, 34, is back at London’s High Court for her third day giving evidence in Depp ‘s libel case against News Group Newspapers.
Depp, 57, is suing NGN over a story published in The Sun in 2018 which branded him a “wife beater” – a claim which he strenuously denies.
The actress has been giving evidence and was questioned about the testimony over Depp’s estate manager in the Bahamas, Tara Roberts.
In her witness statement, she described an argument between the couple in the Bahamas in December 2015 and claimed Heard was “repeatedly berating” the actor “with increasing ferocity”.
Ms Roberts stated: “She was insulting him, calling him names, and in the middle of this onslaught I heard her say specifically ‘your career is over’, ‘no one is going to hire you’, ‘you’re washed up’, ‘fat’, “you will die a lonely man’.”
Eleanor Laws, QC, for Depp read the statement to Heard and the actress confirmed the words were said, but insisted they were uttered by Depp and aimed at her.
Heard also admitted throwing a can as she was “running away” from the actor.
During today’s testimony, Heard claimed Depp threw 30 bottles at her during a row in Australia in 2015 – Depp denies attacking her – and left her with oozing scalp wounds after being “headbutted” in an argument in Los Angeles on December 15 in 2015.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star admitted headbutting Heard but insisted it was an accident. He claimed he was not violent towards her during the row.
Depp has denied he was ever violent towards his ex-wife and has accused her of abusing him during their marriage.
Lawyers for NGN are defending their case based on Heard’s 14 allegations of abuse, which include claims of bust-ups between 2013 and 2016.
The actor has argued his ex-wife was abusive towards him during the marriage, which collapsed in 2016.
