Fiona Bruce is romping up the rankings of the BBC to enter their top 10 list of best paid presenters – according to reports.
The iconic 56-year-old newsreader has allegedly seen her paycheque almost double in the past year – making her one of the highest paid members of BBC talent.
While her new salary – believed to be an impressive £400,000 per year – will make her one of four women within the top 10 best paid stars.
It is also suggested the beefy payment will be seen as evidence that the BBC is addressing it’s highly publicised gender pay gap.
The Sun claims Fiona has seen her salary increase from £259,999 for her work on BBC1 in the 2019/2020 period – however, the figure only included 10 episodes of Question Time that had been released at the time of figures being calculated.
The Sun then claim the stat could now instead be earning at least £400,000 – with the figure possibly higher if Fiona’s work on the Antiques Roadshow had not been accounted for.
The Sun claim: “Based on pay analysis and information from industry sources, Miss Bruce will appear in the top 10 on the back of a full year of pay as the host of Question Time.
“Just four years ago, just 25 per cent of those earning more than £150,000 were women, the figures show it is now 45 per cent.”
The BBC will reportedly share their talent salaries next week – with some of the top talent male hosts expected to be seen with paycheques decreasing.
Meanwhile the MailOnline claim a TV insider said of Fiona’s talents: “She is one of the best presenters around.
“She is hosting Question Time in the most politically active moment in the past 20 years. She is worth every penny.”
Gary Lineker has been the Beeb’s highest pay star – with a salary previously recorded as £1.75 million per year.
Claudia Winkleman and Zoe Ball have been on the top 10 paid presenters previously with salaries of £374,999 each.
