Fans of Nicki Minaj aren’t happy with Kenneth Petty‘s criminal history, including the murder and rape convictions. Petty’s past has made its way to the top of social media users’ minds once again following the news that Nicki was pregnant with his baby.
Fans of the performing artist know Kenneth Petty has never been a favorite among her base. When Nicki first revealed she married him, allegations against Petty including his history with crimes have been uncovered and continuously laid out for all to see on the internet.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, Petty is a registered sex offender. And he also spent time in a penitentiary for rape and murder charges. Sources claim Petty and Nicki grew up in the same area, and once she became a celebrity, they reconnected.
When the rapper’s pregnancy news was revealed all over the entertainment news headlines, Petty’s reputation was called into question again, with many reminding her that he didn’t have a squeaky clean history. Many users argued he was far from being “clean.”

On the other hand, controversy is something Nicki has getting used to lately. For instance, she sparked the ire of many in the hip-hop world after it was revealed she would be collaborating with Tekashi 6ix9ine following his release from prison.
Initially, the idea was merely reported as a rumor, but it turned out to be true. Nicki and Tekashi 6ix9ine dropped a track together called, “TROLLZ,” which later did quite well on the charts, including on YouTube, although, the streaming platform later came out to insinuate that the track’s views had been inflated.
Moreover, it was also reported that “TROLLZ” fell off the charts as quickly as it rose, dropping down many positions in just one week from the number one spot.
As for why social media users were so mad about Minaj’s involvement with Tekashi 6ix9ine, the latter was accused of ratting out his former gang members in exchange for a reduced sentence. That’s exactly what Tekashi 6ix9ine – or Daniel Hernandez – received, as well.
The idea of being a “rat” is one of the worst labels a person can receive in the hip-hop world.
