Chrissy Teigen has spoken out about how conspiracy theorists have affected her life and how she has had to learn to “live” with their attacks.
The 34-year-old cookbook author and model is pregnant with her third child with singer John Legend and she has revealed how being wrongly linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein on social media has hit her mental health and pregnancy.
Chrissy has seen her social media accounts hit with accusations and unsubstantiated allegations of sex trafficking with trolls leaving pizza emojis in reference to a discredited ‘Pizzagate’ theory.
This gained popularity due to extreme conspiracy group QAnon and the emoji has been used when Chrissy comments on other people’s posts as well.
Chrissy and John have never been formally accused of wrongdoing and they have repeatedly refuted claims, with Chrissy admitting in July that she deleted 60,000 tweets.
She said that she took this action as a way of safeguarding those close to her. Chrissy tweeted at the time: “I’m worried for my family.”
The model has said that has now stopped posting “cute” comments on other social media posts as they would “be flooded with pizzagate insanity.”
Writing on Instagram, Chrissy said: “I have lived a life begging for people to like me and think I’m cool and funny and their friend, and bam, it felt like everyone f***ing hated me. I couldn’t do anything right, say anything right.
“My own fan pages wrote me, asking if I still wanted to be talked about even though the comments would be super hurtful.”
Chrissy has also revealed how the situation has affected her pregnancy and the “deep dark internet/real life days,” as she recovered from breast reduction surgery.
Writing about the impact it had on her body, Chrissy shared: “I was so so so scared the aggression on my body took a toll on the baby and just mentally came to terms with it ‘not working out’.
“It had never worked out naturally before so for sure it wouldn’t now!”
Chrissy continued: “There is so much worse in the world, but man, aside from the world sucking, my little world sucked too.”
She revealed that fans have been giving her “support” over recent months and she added: “I guess I’ve come to terms with the fact not everyone is going to like me, and even though I still VERY MUCH DO NOT LIKE THAT, i can live with it.”
