Gemma Collins slammed brands that refused to dress her during her time on TOWIE after they said she was “too fat”.

The reality TV star, 39, finally got the last laugh as she picked up a gong for the Greatest Icon on the hit show during the 10th Anniversary special.

And being the outspoken character she is, The GC didn’t hold back in her prerecorded speech, as she hit out at the unknown brands that turned their backs from her simply because of her weight.

Accepting her award virtually, Gem looked sensational as she donned a not-so-subtle ’01 ICON’ jumper teamed up with a pair of simple black leggings.

Rocking a full face of makeup, the blonde beauty let her long locks flow over her shoulder as she gave her two cents on her experience of TOWIE.

She candidly said: “I want to thank you all so much for voting me number one icon on TOWIE, this is a heartfelt message.

“I was never the prettiest girl on the show. I never had the best body. I kind of really didn’t know what I was doing when I joined the show.”

She continued: “For everyone that voted me number one Icon, thank you from my heart.

“Obviously I was quite confident when I went on the show, but a lot of clothing brands wouldn’t lend me their clothing because they said I was too fat.

“I was a size 14/16, and you know I’m bigger now, and basically I’ve got my own clothing brand.”

Feeling smug, she added: “So to everyone who wouldn’t lend me clothing or put me in their brands, what you got to say now, huns?”

Making the message particularly memorable, Gem went on to stick up two fingers on each hand in a doubly rude gesture, proving she’s not kidding.

It’s safe to say Gem has discovered a new sense of self-confidence after losing weight.

She has shared that after years of concealing her curves in kaftans and swimsuits, she is now happy to show off her slimmer frame in skimpy bikinis.

Speaking to MailOnline about her newfound confidence, Gem explained: “It’s no secret that I had skinny jabs in lockdown. But now things are easing and we can travel again, it’s nice to be able to travel feeling more confident.

Proving that the boutique owner is comfortable in her skin, she added: “I’m wearing bikinis for the first time in ages.”
