Late actor Chadwick Boseman sent a moving final text message to Black Panther producer Nate Moore.
The Marvel star passed away on Friday last week at the age of 43 following a four-year battle with colon cancer.
As tributes pour in for Chadwick, some have revealed their final communications with the star, including his executive producer on Black Panther, Nate Moore.
The pair were working together as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation to do something wonderful for severely ill children using his role as superhero Black Panther/T’Challa.
Nate revealed to People: “It was during lockdown, and we worked together to get a young boy a voice note from T’Challa, as well as a package of toys – no easy feat when we weren’t allowed to leave our homes or go to the office.”
However, Chadwick managed to make it work and got the message to the young boy.
It is then revealed that the actor sent Nate a moving final text message about how the experience touched him.
According to Nate, Chadwick texted: “‘It broke me, man, but we need to do that for them. People deserve abundant life, special moments. They’ve been through hell battling disease.
“If we were able to ease their suffering and bring joy for a moment, and hopefully moments has he goes through the bags, then we made a difference in his life.”
The producer added that he believes this was indicative of Chadwick’s character and not just because he himself was privately going through this battle.
According to a source for The Hollywood Reporter, “No one involved with Black Panther was aware” of Chadwick’s illness.
They add that only close family and friends were aware of the four-year battle that the actor was going through.
This reflects words from Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, who said in a statement that Chadwick “shielded” his collaborators from the truth.
The director wrote: “Chad deeply valued his privacy, and I wasn’t privy to the details of his illness. After his family released their statement, I realised that he was living with his illness the entire time I knew him.
