Seann Walsh is quitting Twitter after getting sick of trolls constantly slating him, which he said has made his life “absolute hell”.
The comedian, who appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, told critics “f**k you” as he explained his reasons behind leaving the social media platform.
Having been told to “die” after his first TV show, Seann said he cannot get the ‘echo’ of the abuse out of his mind, and so for his own good is quitting the app.
“It’s happened. I’ve become the guy posting from his notes. It started as a tweet but I was rambling. I can only apologise,” he tweeted before attaching his statement.
“Been off Twitter for around a week. I had to come back on to DM someone. Quickly checked the mensions. This app has contributed to making the last couple of years of my life, absolute hell,” it read.
“When I was in my mid twenties, before there was even the term ‘troll’, I had a TV show. It wasn’t good but I was young and inexperienced. Nevertheless, that should have been an exciting time in my life. But instead I remember it for someone tweeting me ‘What is @seannwalsh and how do we make it die?’
“I must hear that echo in my mind every few weeks. I hate this place. It’s poisonous.”
Seann went on: “To everyone that has got in touch on here over the years to say you enjoyed one of my gigs or shows, thank you so much, I’m sorry I didn’t get back to all of you.
“Now. To everyone who has abused me on here, even the ones that didn’t @ me, from the bottom of my heart and all the energy I can will, f**k you. Really f**k you.
“I won’t miss this place. What even is it? In all my life, I don’t think I’ve actually heard anyone talk about the things people talk about on here in real life.
“Chill out and have a biscuit.”
The comedian, who came under fire when he was spotted snogging his Strictly partner Katya Jones in late 2018 while he was still with live-in girlfriend Rebecca Humphries, was immediately reassured by fans they have his back.
One wrote back: “I honestly think people under-estimate the cumulative effect of all those nasty tweets one on top of the other, especially when you’re feeling low already. I often wonder what sort of a person you have to be to send hate to people you don’t know, probably sad and inadequate!”
Another told him: “I’ve seen you perform 4 or 5 times I think. Looking forward to next gig. Chin up sunshine, hope to see you soon. (Love the hangover routine).”
And a third said: “I miss you but if it makes you unhappy don’t do it, for the record you are a comedy genius tho.”
Meanwhile, Seann has moved on from the Strictly Snoggate scandal and is now with new girlfriend Grace Adderley.
