Laura Bingham is nearly 39 weeks pregnant with twins and has explained she won’t be getting induced despite being in a lot of pain.
The TV star, 27, is approaching her last week of pregnancy and considers herself to be feeling “pretty uncomfortable”.
But the mum-to-be has shared the reality of expecting twins and why she is waiting for her babies to arrive “when they are ready” instead of being induced.
Alongside a natural post showing off her stretch marks from the pregnancy, Laura shared: “So the ‘standard’ with twins is to be induced at 37 weeks, I’m nearly 39 weeks but I have chosen not to be induced despite being pretty uncomfortable.”
Laura, who is already a mum to son Ranulph, stood beside her husband Ed Stafford for a mirror selfie as she revealed her huge bump.
She said there’s no point trying to force the twins out.
After reading a study about the labour process, Laura discovered that it begins when the babies’ lungs are fully ready, which is exactly what she’s going to follow.
“Induction hasn’t really been around long enough for us to see if there’s any long term effects,” she continued.
“They use syntocinon to begin labour which is a synthetic oxytocin but it doesn’t contain the same pain relief effects as oxytocin making labour more ‘intense’.”
Laura admitted she’d prefer to have as much of the “natural good stuff” as she possibly can.
The star said: “Oxytocin is more powerful than morphine so I would really prefer as much of that natural good stuff as possible!”
Rounding up her candid post, Laura explained she doesn’t want to add any extra stress onto the twins, as she said a stressful labour can cause emotional trauma for the baby.
She concluded: “Obviously everyone’s pregnancy is different! And we all make the choice that’s best for our situation and perhaps for your situation, induction is the right option, which is perfect!
“But it’s so important when pregnant to really understand our choices and all the implications of that come with it.
“I’m also aware that being pregnant too long with twins also carries its risks and implications but that’s a post for another day!”
She’s taking all the precautions she can to ensure her birth goes smoothly.
“We can’t wait to meet you but we’ll wait till you’re ready,️” she added.
